Hand puppets are any type of puppet that is controlled primarily by a hand that occupies the inside of the puppet. Usually the puppeteer's hand is inside the hand puppets head, controlling the mouth and head, and the puppet's body hangs over most or all of the arm of the puppeteer. Our selection of hand puppets are suitable for hand sizes of all ages! Meaning your child can play on their own with the puppets or can interact with mum and dad. Hand puppets are great for storytelling and some of our much loved hand puppet sets come complete with scripts.
Hand puppets are also great learning aids and can be used with children of all ages and educational needs. We know they are great to use for "baby signing" which is an excellent way of learning to communicate with your baby. For older children, hand puppets can be used as an aid within "Literacy Hour" and "Numeracy Hour". For children with special educational needs, puppets can be used to engage a child and encourage conversation.
Hand puppets are a great aid for children with speech problems as the child can hold a conversation through the puppet, easing the pressure for the child as it is the hand puppet that is talking not the child. Conversation can then be seen as a game not a problem and you will notice your child becomes more vocal when puppets are introduced.
